I am a CLIC Sargent volunteer and yesterday I was photographing one of their events. Many of the volunteers across Northern Ireland were invited to the City Hall in Belfast to attend a reception with the Lord Mayor.
We were reminded of the wonderful support that the charity provides on a daily basis.
Every day 10 families across the UK ( 2 families in Northern Ireland ) are told the devastating news that their child has cancer. Treatment usually starts straight away and can last for years.
CLIC Sargent is there with clinical, practical and emotional support every step of the way. The pain and pressures can be slightly alleviated, with the help from volunteers who are involved in some of the following areas :
